True and false sentences about yourself

Write sentences about yourself using the target language. Students must guess which are false.

Example (Intermediate level)

  • I can eat a liter and a half of ice cream in one go. (true)
  • I can juggle with four balls. (true)
  • When I was young, I could jump higher than my head. (true)
  • When I was young, I could do the splits. (false)
  • I can't wink my left eye. (true)
  • Last year, I managed to watch 150 movies. (true)
  • My friend is a tennis coach. A week ago, I managed to beat him at tennis. (false)
  • I won't be able to teach you next Wednesday. (false)

Example (Low Intermediate level)

  • I can eat 1 liter of ice cream
  • I can speak 4 languages
  • I can juggle with four balls.
  • I can't wink my left eye.
  • I can't play a musical instrument
  • I can't whistle
  • I can't cook
  • I can write with my left hand
  • I can do the splits

Follow up: Students must write 6 things they can and can't do. Must lie at least once. Their partner must guess which are lies.

Class Survey
Create a survey for students to find out how many students can or cannot do something. Or do a "Find someone who can..." activity.
